Darlington School is a co-educational, college-preparatory, day and boarding school located in Rome, Georgia, United States. History Darlington School was founded in 1905 by John Paul and two of his friends, J.J. Darlington and J.R. McCain. It was initially conceived as an all-boys' preparatory school and was named in honor of J.J. Darlington, a distinguished attorney and legal scholar. The school began in rented facilities but moved to its current 500-acre campus on the west bank of the Etowah River in 1923, featuring structures designed by renowned architects. Over the decades, Darlington evolved significantly, most notably becoming fully co-educational in 1973 through a merger with the Thornwood School for Girls.
