Danny Seigle

Danny Seigle (born September 21, 1976) is a Filipino‑American former professional basketball player who competed in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). He is noted for his tenure with the San Miguel Beermen, where he contributed to multiple championship runs and earned several individual awards.

Early life and education
Seigle was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, to an American father and a Filipino mother. He grew up in the United States, attending Bellarmine College Preparatory in San Jose, California, before playing college basketball at the University of the Pacific. At Pacific, he was a two‑year starter for the Pacific Tigers men's basketball team, averaging 9.4 points per game in his senior season.

Professional career

PBA entry and San Miguel Beermen (2001–2013)
Seigle entered the PBA in 2001 after being selected 9th overall by the San Miguel Beermen in the PBA Draft. He quickly established himself as a versatile forward/center known for mid‑range shooting, post moves, and rebounding. Over his 12‑year stint with San Miguel, Seigle won six PBA championships (2001 Governors’, 2005 and 2007 Philippine Cups, 2009 and 2011 Governors’, and 2012 Commissioner's Cup). He was named PBA Most Valuable Player in 2008 and earned multiple All‑Star selections and Best Player of the Conference honors.

Later career and retirement
After leaving San Miguel in 2013, Seigle briefly played for other PBA teams, including the GlobalPort Batang Pier. Persistent knee injuries limited his playing time, and he announced his retirement from professional basketball in 2015.

National team involvement
Seigle represented the Philippines in several international tournaments, including the 2002 Asian Games and the 2007 FIBA Asia Championship. He was part of the national squad that secured a silver medal at the 2005 Southeast Asian Games.

Coaching and post‑playing activities
Following retirement, Seigle transitioned to coaching and basketball development. He served as an assistant coach for the San Miguel Beermen and later founded a youth basketball academy in Manila focused on skill development and mentorship.

Personal life
Seigle is married to former beauty queen and television host Zorayda R. Ruiz, and they have two children. He is active in charitable work, supporting education and sports programs for underprivileged youth in the Philippines.

Legacy
Regarded as one of the most effective power forwards in PBA history, Seigle’s combination of scoring ability and defensive presence contributed significantly to San Miguel’s dominance during the 2000s. His MVP award and multiple championship titles cement his status among the league’s notable veterans.
