Danny Kushmaro

Danny Kushmaro (Hebrew: דני קושמרו; born May 1968 in Be’er Sheva, Israel) is an Israeli journalist, news anchor, and television presenter. He is best known for his long‑standing role as a main evening news anchor on Channel 12 (formerly Channel 2) and for his contributions to the Israeli News Company.

Early life and education
Kushmaro was born in Be’er Sheva. He pursued higher education at Ben‑Gurion University of the Negev, where he studied engineering and business administration.

Career
Kushmaro began his media career in 1996 as a presenter at a local radio station. In 2001 he joined the Israeli News Company (the Israel Television News Company). From 2003 to 2013 he presented Channel 2’s Saturday news magazine. In 2008 he succeeded Gadi Sukenik as the evening anchorman. Since then, he has alternately co‑hosted the main weekday news broadcast with Yonit Levi.

He has covered numerous major events, including the 2003 landing of Space Shuttle Columbia, the 2018 torch‑lighting ceremony on Mount Herzl, the Great March of Return protests, and the inauguration of the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem. In 2017, he conducted an interview with white‑supremacist Richard Spencer, which generated significant public reaction.

Personal life and other activities
Kushmaro is an avid motorcyclist and participant in extreme sports. In June 2018 he was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident in Modena, Italy. He is also known for occasional on‑field reporting during military operations, such as accompanying Israeli Defense Forces in southern Lebanon during the 2024 Gaza war.

Public perception
Kushmaro is widely recognized as one of Israel’s most prominent television journalists, often cited for his on‑screen presence and reporting style. His career has included both praise for journalistic contributions and criticism related to coverage of controversial subjects.
