Daniel Rosenthal (born c. 1991) is an American politician who serves as a member of the New York State Assembly, representing the 27th District. A member of the Democratic Party, he was first elected in a special election in 2017.
Early Life and Education Born and raised in Queens, New York, Rosenthal attended the Lander College for Men, part of Touro University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science.
Political Career Prior to his election to the New York State Assembly, Rosenthal worked in various roles within New York City government. He served as a community liaison for New York City Council Member Rory Lancman and later as the Director of Constituent Services for New York City Council Member Barry Grodenchik. These roles involved addressing community concerns and connecting residents with city services.
In November 2017, Rosenthal successfully ran in a special election to fill the vacancy in the 27th Assembly District, a seat previously held by Michael Simanowitz, who had passed away. At the age of 26, he became one of the youngest members of the Assembly upon his victory. The 27th District encompasses various neighborhoods in Queens, including Kew Gardens Hills, Pomonok, Electchester, and parts of Fresh Meadows and Forest Hills.
Since taking office, Rosenthal has focused on legislative issues important to his constituents, such as public safety, quality of life improvements, senior services, and securing adequate funding for education. He has been re-elected to his Assembly seat in subsequent general elections.
