Daniel Hynes

Daniel Hynes (born November 22, 1968) is an American lawyer and former elected official who served as the Illinois State Auditor from 1999 to 2015. A member of the Democratic Party, Hynes was the longest‑serving holder of that office in Illinois history.

Early life and education
Hynes was born in Chicago, Illinois. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1990 and subsequently obtained a Juris Doctor from the Chicago-Kent College of Law in 1994.
