Dan Siegel (attorney)

Dan Siegel is an American civil rights and labor attorney based in Oakland, California. Known for his long career advocating for social justice, workers' rights, and civil liberties, Siegel has been a prominent figure in progressive legal and political movements in the San Francisco Bay Area for decades.

Born into a family with a strong tradition of legal activism (his father, Stanley Siegel, was also a notable civil rights attorney), Dan Siegel continued this legacy. He attended the University of California, Berkeley, and earned his Juris Doctor from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall).

Throughout his career, Siegel has been involved in numerous high-profile cases, representing unions, community organizations, and individuals in matters concerning labor disputes, police misconduct, free speech, and discrimination. He is a co-founder of the law firm Siegel & Yee, which later became Siegel & Ambriz LLP.

Beyond his legal practice, Siegel has also been active in public service and political organizing. He served as a member of the Oakland Unified School District Board of Education from 2009 to 2013.
