Dalton Bancroft (born May 11, 2001) is a Canadian professional baseball infielder who plays in the Toronto Blue Jays organization. He was drafted by the Blue Jays in the 14th round of the 2023 Major League Baseball (MLB) draft.
Early Life and Amateur Career Bancroft was born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. He played youth baseball for the Kingston Jr. Frontenacs, where he developed his skills as an infielder.
College Career Bancroft began his collegiate baseball career at Siena College. As a freshman in 2022, he had a standout season, earning the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Rookie of the Year award. Following his successful year at Siena, he transferred to the University of Tennessee to play for the Tennessee Volunteers, a Division I program in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). At Tennessee, Bancroft primarily played third base and contributed to the team's success in the 2023 season.
Professional Career Following his time at the University of Tennessee, Bancroft was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 14th round, with the 427th overall pick, of the 2023 MLB draft. He subsequently signed with the Blue Jays and began his professional career within their minor league system, playing for various affiliates as he started his journey through professional baseball. He is primarily a right-handed hitting third baseman.
