DYFX-DTV

DYFX-DTV is a digital terrestrial television station based in Cebu City, Philippines, serving the Central Visayas region. It is owned and operated by [[GMA Network, Inc.]], one of the largest media conglomerates in the Philippines. The station functions as the regional relay of GTV, GMA Network's secondary free-to-air television network, which broadcasts a diverse range of news, public affairs, entertainment, and sports programming.

History

The origins of DYFX-DTV can be traced back to its analog predecessor, DYFX-TV, which commenced broadcasts on VHF Channel 7. With the nationwide transition to digital television in the Philippines, GMA Network expanded its digital services, leading to DYFX-DTV becoming the digital standard for its Cebu operations. Initially, the station served as the regional outlet for GMA News TV (formerly QTV), GMA Network's dedicated news and public affairs channel. In February 2021, GMA News TV underwent a significant rebrand to GTV, broadening its programming scope to include a wider mix of general entertainment, lifestyle, and sports content in addition to news and public affairs. Consequently, DYFX-DTV adopted the GTV branding and programming schedule.

Programming and Coverage

As part of the GTV network, DYFX-DTV airs a comprehensive selection of programs, including national news bulletins, public affairs shows, documentaries, lifestyle segments, entertainment series, and live sports broadcasts. While primarily relaying the national GTV feed, the station also incorporates regional opt-outs for local news updates and public service announcements specifically tailored for the Central Visayas audience. Its broadcast signal covers Cebu City and extends to neighboring provinces within the Central Visayas region, including parts of Negros Oriental, Siquijor, and Bohol.

Technical Information

DYFX-DTV broadcasts on Ultra High Frequency (UHF) Channel 27 in the digital television spectrum. Despite its digital channel assignment, the station is often colloquially referred to as "Channel 7" by viewers, a common practice among Philippine stations that have transitioned from analog to digital, referencing their historical analog frequencies. The station's transmission facilities are located in Cebu City.
