DJ Koze is the stage name of Stefan Kozalla, a German DJ and music producer. He is known for his eclectic and genre-bending DJ sets and original productions, which often blend elements of house, techno, hip-hop, and psychedelia.
Kozalla began his career in the early 1990s as a hip-hop DJ in Hamburg. He was a member of the German hip-hop group Fischmob before transitioning to electronic music in the late 1990s. His productions are characterized by intricate sound design, unconventional sampling, and a playful sense of humor.
He has released several acclaimed albums, including "All People Is My Brother" (2005), "Reincarnations Pt. 1 & 2" (2009), "Amygdala" (2013), and "Knock Knock" (2018). "Amygdala," in particular, is widely regarded as a modern classic of electronic music.
DJ Koze is also a prolific remixer, having reworked tracks by artists such as Caribou, Moderat, Matthew Herbert, and Ada. He runs the Pampa Records label alongside Marcus Fink, showcasing a diverse range of electronic music talent.
