D29 road (Croatia)

The D29 road (Croatian: Državna cesta D29) is a state road in Croatia. It is 62.4 kilometres (38.8 miles) long and connects the D3 state road near Novi Golubovec in the Krapina-Zagorje County to the D10 state road near Vrbovec in the Zagreb County.

Route Description

The D29 road begins by branching off the D3 state road north of Zlatar Bistrica, near Novi Golubovec. It generally runs in a southeasterly direction, passing through the towns and settlements of Zlatar, Mače, Konjščina, Marija Bistrica, and Kašina.

Upon reaching the outskirts of Zagreb, the D29 traverses the Sesvete district, an eastern part of the city. Here, it connects to various local roads that provide access to the A4 motorway (Zagreb–Goričan). The road continues east from Sesvete, passing through Adamovec, before terminating at its junction with the D10 state road, north of Vrbovec.

Significance

The D29 road serves as an important regional artery, particularly for the eastern part of Hrvatsko Zagorje, providing a connection to the city of Zagreb and to the D10 state road, which further links to the A4 motorway. It is also of particular importance for pilgrimage traffic to Marija Bistrica, one of Croatia's most significant Marian shrines.

Maintenance

The D29 road is officially maintained by Hrvatske ceste d.o.o., the Croatian national road authority. The road is classified as a state road, meaning it is part of the national road network and is subject to state-level maintenance standards.
