Dýšina is a municipality and village in Plzeň-sever District in the Plzeň Region of the Czech Republic. It is located approximately 7 kilometres (4 mi) east of Plzeň and 79 km (49 mi) west-southwest of Prague.
Geography Dýšina is situated on the eastern outskirts of the city of Plzeň, primarily within the Plzeň Basin, though its eastern parts extend into the Brdy Highlands. The village lies in the valley of the Klabava River, which flows through the southern part of the municipal territory. The landscape is characterized by rolling hills, agricultural land, and scattered forests.

History The first written mention of Dýšina dates back to 1242, when it was part of the property of the monastery of Chotěšov. Over the centuries, the village passed through the hands of various noble families. Its strategic location near Plzeň made it a significant settlement in the region. Horomyslice was first mentioned in 1362, and Nová Huť, as its name suggests (meaning "New Smeltery"), developed later, likely associated with industrial activities.
Demographics As of the early 2020s, Dýšina has a population of approximately 2,000 inhabitants. The population has shown a gradual increase in recent decades, benefiting from its proximity to Plzeň.
Sights and Landmarks
- Church of Saint Bartholomew (Kostel svatého Bartoloměje): The most prominent historical building in Dýšina, originally Gothic from the 14th century, it underwent Baroque modifications in the 18th century. It features a robust tower and valuable interior furnishings.
- Former Fortress/Chateau: While the original fortress has not survived in its full form, remnants and later manor house structures reflect its historical significance.
- Nature Trails: The surrounding area offers opportunities for hiking and cycling, with several marked trails leading through the picturesque landscape along the Klabava River.
