Born on 10 July 1999 in Bratislava, Slovakia, Bondra developed his early hockey career in the Slovak junior system before moving to North America to play in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). He spent three seasons (2016–2019) with the Sudbury Wolves and the Erie Otters, where he recorded a combined total of 87 points in 169 regular‑season games. In the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, Bondra was selected in the third round, 73rd overall, by the Detroit Red Wings.

Following the draft, Bondra signed an entry‑level contract with Detroit and made his professional debut with the Grand Rapids Griffins, the Red Wings’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, during the 2019–2020 season. He has also appeared for the Detroit Red Wings’ ECHL affiliate, the Toledo Walleye. Internationally, Bondra has represented Slovakia at the IIHF World U18 Championships (2017) and the World Junior Championship (2019), contributing both offensively and defensively as a left‑winger.
