Crestmead, Queensland

Crestmead is a residential suburb of the City of Logan, situated in the southeastern part of the Greater Brisbane metropolitan region in the Australian state of Queensland. It lies approximately 30 kilometres (19 mi) south of the Brisbane Central Business District and about 9 kilometres (5.5 mi) southwest of Logan Central, the administrative centre of Logan City.

Geography
Crestmead is bounded by the suburbs of Berrinba to the east, Springwood to the north, Jimboomba to the south, and the Logan River to the west. The suburb is situated on relatively flat to gently undulating terrain that is typical of the Logan River floodplain. Major thoroughfares include the Logan Motorway (M2) to the south and the Pacific Motorway (M1) to the east, providing road connectivity to Brisbane, the Gold Coast, and other surrounding regions.

History
The area that now comprises Crestmead was originally part of the pastoral lands of the Logan district and was traditionally inhabited by the Yugambeh people. European settlement in the broader Logan region began in the mid‑19th century, focusing on timber-getting and agriculture. Crestmead was officially gazetted as a suburb in the early 1990s as part of Logan City’s suburban development program.
