Craig Mazin (born April 15, 1971) is an American screenwriter, director, and producer. He is known for his work in both film and television.
Early life and education
Mazın was born in Brooklyn, New York. He attended the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in theater.
Career
Film
- Mazin co-wrote the screenplay for the 2001 sports comedy Summer Catch.
- He wrote the screenplay for the 2003 family film The Hangover Part II and its sequel, The Hangover Part III (2013).
- He also contributed to the screenplays of The Hangover (2009) and The Hangover Part III (2013).
Television
- Mazin created and served as showrunner for the HBO limited series Chernobyl (2019), which dramatized the 1986 nuclear disaster in the Soviet Union. The series received critical acclaim and won several awards, including a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Limited Series.
- In 2022, he co-created the HBO series The Last of Us, an adaptation of the video game of the same name, where he also serves as executive producer and writer. The show garnered strong viewership and critical praise.
