Coyuca de Benítez is a city and municipal seat in the state of Guerrero, Mexico. It also refers to the surrounding municipality that administers the city and numerous rural communities.

Located in the Costa Chica region of southwestern Mexico, Coyuca de Benítez lies near the Pacific coastline, approximately 250 km southwest of the state capital, Chilpancingo. According to the 2020 national census conducted by INEGI, the municipality had a total population of about 73 000 inhabitants, while the urban seat accounted for roughly 20 000 residents. The municipality covers an area of ≈ 1 200 km² and is traversed by the Coyuca River, which drains into the Pacific Ocean. The name “Coyuca” is derived from the Nahuatl word coyōtl (coyote) combined with the locative suffix -cā, meaning “place of coyotes.” The addition “de Benítez” honors a historical figure bearing the surname Benítez, who was influential in the region during the 19th century; precise details about this individual are not uniformly documented, and accurate information about the specific person is not confirmed.
