Courtney Brown (defensive back)
Courtney Brown (born August 14, 1985) is an American former professional football player who played as a defensive back (primarily cornerback) in the National Football League (NFL). He is distinct from the defensive end also named Courtney Brown, who was the first overall pick in the 2000 NFL Draft.
Early Life and College Career
Brown attended the University of South Florida (USF), where he played college football for the USF Bulls. As a cornerback, he was a contributor to the Bulls' defense during his collegiate career, demonstrating speed and coverage skills.
Professional Career
Brown was selected by the Atlanta Falcons in the seventh round (235th overall) of the 2007 NFL Draft. He spent two seasons with the Falcons, appearing in 14 regular season games during the 2007 NFL season and 10 games in the 2008 NFL season. Throughout his NFL tenure, Brown primarily contributed on special teams and served as a reserve defensive back. Following his release from the Falcons, he was briefly a member of the practice squads for other NFL teams, including the Buffalo Bills and Washington Redskins, but did not record any further regular season game appearances. His NFL career concluded after the 2008 season.
