Cougar Ridge is a residential neighborhood located in the west quadrant of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Situated on the western edge of the city's developed area, the community is positioned on a plateau that provides views of both the Calgary skyline and the Rocky Mountains.
The neighborhood is bounded to the north by Old Banff Coach Road, to the east by 69 Street W, to the south by the Paskapoo Slopes and Canada Olympic Park (WinSport), and to the west by 85 Street W. It is part of the city's Ward 6 electoral division.
Development of Cougar Ridge began in 2001. The community is characterized primarily by low-density, single-family detached housing, with some multi-family townhomes and condominium complexes. The area was designed with an emphasis on green spaces and integrated pathways that connect to the adjacent Paskapoo Slopes, a significant natural environment park and archaeological site.
Demographically, Cougar Ridge is recognized as a high-income community with a high percentage of family households. According to municipal census data, the majority of the population consists of residents within the primary working-age brackets.
The neighborhood is served by various educational institutions, including West Ridge School, which serves students in grades 5 through 9. It is also located near several private schools and the 69 Street C-Train station, which provides light rail transit access to the downtown core. Recreational activities in the immediate vicinity are dominated by the WinSport facility, which offers skiing, snowboarding, and mountain biking, as well as various community parks and playgrounds within the residential boundaries.
