Constantinos Carydis

Constantinos Carydis is a Greek conductor known for his work with orchestras and opera companies in Europe and elsewhere. Born in Athens, he began his musical training as a violinist before turning to conducting. Carydis studied conducting at the Royal Academy of Music in London and subsequently held positions as assistant conductor at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.

His guest conducting engagements have included appearances with the Philharmonia Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Royal Northern Sinfonia, among others. In the operatic realm, he has conducted productions for companies such as the English National Opera and the Royal Danish Opera.

In 2022, Carydis was appointed principal conductor of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, a role in which he leads the ensemble in concert series, recordings, and tours. He has also been associated with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra as a guest conductor.

Carydis is recognized for his interpretative focus on the Romantic repertoire as well as contemporary works, and he has contributed to recordings and live broadcasts that have received critical attention in classical music media.
