Overview
Colonia Valdense is a small town (pueblo) located in the Colonia Department of southwestern Uruguay. It is part of the greater Colonia del Sacramento metropolitan area and lies near the main road connections that link the department’s capital with other inland settlements.
History
The town was founded in 1857 by a group of Waldensian (Valdense) immigrants from the Piedmont region of Italy.
