Clyde Lavell Dickey (December 14, 1951 – January 30, 2003) was an American professional basketball player who played as a shooting guard. He is noted for his collegiate career at Boise State University and for a single season in the American Basketball Association (ABA) with the Utah Stars during the 1974–75 season.
Early life and education
Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Dickey attended Central High School in his hometown. He enrolled at Boise State University, where he played for the Broncos men's basketball team from 1972 to 1974.
College career
At Boise State, Dicking earned first‑team All‑Big Sky Conference honors in 1974 and remains a prominent figure in the program’s record books. His performance garnered attention from professional scouts.
Professional career
Dickey was selected in the seventh round (112th overall) of the 1974 NBA Draft by the Phoenix Suns, but he never appeared in an NBA game. Instead, he signed with the ABA’s Utah Stars, appearing in the 1974–75 season. His professional tenure was limited to that single ABA season; he did not return to the league after the ABA–NBA merger.
Personal life and death
