Clint Didier (born October 22, 1976) is an American former professional football player and political activist. He played as a tight end in the National Football League (NFL) for the Washington Redskins and the Arizona Cardinals. Following his athletic career, Didier became involved in Republican politics in the state of Washington, including an announced campaign for the United States Senate in 2018, which he later withdrew from.
Early life and education
Clint Didier was born in Fresno, California. He attended Washington State University, where he played college football for the Washington State Cougars. During his collegiate career, Didier earned recognition as a reliable receiver and blocker, contributing to the team's offensive schemes.
Professional football career
After going undrafted in the 1999 NFL Draft, Didier signed with the Washington Redskins as a free agent. He spent three seasons (1999–2001) with the Redskins, primarily contributing on special teams and as a backup tight end. In 2002, he joined the Arizona Cardinals, where he appeared in a limited number of games before being released. Over his NFL tenure, Didier recorded a modest statistical output, typical of a reserve tight end, with a total of three receptions for 25 yards.
Post‑football endeavors
Following his retirement from professional football, Didier returned to Washington state, where he engaged in business and community activities. He became a prominent speaker and advocate for conservative causes, often highlighting his experiences as a former athlete and veteran (he also served in the United States Army Reserve). Didier has participated in a variety of charitable events, particularly those supporting veterans and youth sports programs.
Political activity
In March 2018, Didier announced his candidacy for the United States Senate as a Republican, challenging incumbent Democrat Patty Murray. His campaign emphasized a platform of limited government, fiscal conservatism, and support for veterans. In May 2018, Didier withdrew from the Senate race, citing personal considerations and the need to focus on family and professional responsibilities. He has continued to be active in state-level Republican circles, providing endorsements and commentary on political matters.
Personal life
Clint Didier is married and has children. He resides in the Seattle metropolitan area. Didier has maintained his involvement with football through occasional coaching clinics and mentorship programs for young athletes.
