Claviphantes is a genus of Asian dwarf spiders (family Linyphiidae) that was first described by arachnologists A. V. Tanasevitch and Michael I. Saaristo in 2006. The genus was established during a taxonomic reassessment of Nepalese linyphiid spiders, with species originally described under the genus Lepthyphantes being transferred based on distinctive male palpal characteristics.
As of May 2019, the genus contains only two species, both endemic to Nepal:
- Claviphantes bifurcatoides (Tanasevitch, 1987)
- Claviphantes bifurcatus (Tanasevitch, 1987) — designated as the type species
Both species were originally described by Tanasevitch in 1987 under the genus Lepthyphantes and were later transferred to the newly erected genus Claviphantes by Tanasevitch and Saaristo in their 2006 publication "Reassessment of the Nepalese species of the genus Lepthyphantes Menge s. l. with descriptions of new Micronetinae genera and species (Araneae, Linyphiidae, Micronetinae)" in Senckenbergiana Biologica (volume 86, pages 11–38).
The genus belongs to the subfamily Micronetinae within the family Linyphiidae, commonly known as dwarf spiders or sheet weavers.
