Claude Buchon

Claude Buchon (9 February 1949 – 23 June 2024) was a French cyclist who competed in road and track disciplines. Born in Saint‑Brieuc, France, he became notable for his participation in international competitions during the 1970s.

Buchon represented France at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, competing in the men's team time trial event. In addition to his Olympic appearance, he achieved success on the track, contributing to a bronze‑medal performance in the team pursuit at the 1969 UCI Track Cycling World Championships held in Brno, Czechoslovakia. Domestically, Buchon secured multiple French national titles in the team time trial (1972, 1975, and 1976) and won several regional championships in Brittany.

His professional road career spanned from the early to mid‑1970s, during which he recorded victories such as the Paris–Évreux race and a stage win at the Tour de Bretagne Cycliste. After retiring from competition, Buchon remained associated with French cycling circles until his death on 23 June 2024 at the age of 75.
