Clare Westcott (1928–2013) was a Canadian politician and municipal administrator in Ontario. He is primarily known for his leadership roles in the governance of Metropolitan Toronto during the 1960s and 1970s.
Political Career Westcott began his political career on the Etobicoke Township Council. He served as Reeve of Etobicoke from 1962 to 1966. As Reeve, he held a seat on the Metropolitan Toronto Council.
In 1969, he was elected Chairman of the Municipality of Metropolitan Toronto, succeeding William R. Allen. He served in this capacity until 1973. During his tenure as Chairman, he oversaw the regional government responsible for services such as transportation, water, and policing across the metropolitan area.
Later Activities Following his term as Metro Chairman, Westcott remained active in public service and business. He served as the President of the Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) Association from 1974 to 1976. He also worked in the private sector, including roles in real estate and consulting.
Personal Life Clare Westcott was born in Toronto, Ontario. He died in 2013 at the age of 84.
