Chałupy is a Polish seaside resort village located on the Hel Peninsula in Pomeranian Voivodeship, northern Poland. It's situated on the Baltic Sea coast, approximately 5 kilometers northeast of Władysławowo.
Chałupy is renowned for its wide, sandy beaches and is a popular destination for windsurfing and kitesurfing due to the favorable wind conditions in the area. The village has a long history as a fishing settlement, and while tourism is now its primary industry, traces of its fishing heritage remain.
The village gained national fame in Poland in 1979 following the release of a popular song, "Chałupy Welcome To," by Zbigniew Wodecki. The song celebrated the laid-back atmosphere of the village and promoted nudism on its beaches, contributing significantly to its popularity as a holiday destination. While nudism is not officially sanctioned, it is tolerated in certain designated areas.
Chałupy offers a range of accommodation options, including campsites, guesthouses, and hotels. During the summer months, it attracts a large influx of tourists, particularly from Poland and Germany.
