Worker ants typically measure between 4 to 8 mm in length. Like other Cephalotes species, some castes within the colony, particularly major workers or soldiers, possess a highly flattened, disc-shaped head. This specialized head is used in a behavior called phragmosis, where the ant blocks nest entrances with its head to deter intruders.
