Career
2010–2012: Breakthrough
Buckingham first entered the public eye as a contestant on the Slovak talent competition SuperStar (the local version of the “Idol” franchise) in 2011, reaching the final round. Following the competition, she signed a recording contract with the Slovak label Universal Music Group. In 2012 she released the single “Run Run Run,” which reached number one on the Slovak airplay chart and received extensive radio rotation in the Czech Republic.
2013–2015: Debut album and further releases
Her debut studio album, Where I Belong, was issued in 2013. The album blended pop, R&B, and electronic influences and featured the singles “I Won’t Wait,” “Nobody Knows,” and “Blue Eyes.” The record received a Gold certification in Slovakia for sales exceeding 5 000 units. During this period Buckingham also collaborated with regional artists, contributing guest vocals on several tracks.
2016–present: Independent projects and philanthropy
In 2016 Buckingham launched her own independent label, through which she released the EP Loss & Gain (2017) and the full‑length album Nova (2020). Her later work displays a shift toward more introspective songwriting and incorporates elements of acoustic folk and synth‑pop. She has performed at multiple charity concerts, most notably supporting UNICEF’s campaigns for children’s education and health in Eastern Europe.
Artistic style and influences
Buckingham’s music is characterized by melodic pop structures, layered vocal harmonies, and contemporary production techniques. She has cited influences ranging from Beyoncé and Alicia Keys to Slovak folk traditions. Critics have noted her ability to blend Western pop sensibilities with Central European lyrical themes.
