Cathy Thaxton-Tippett

Cathy Thaxton‑Tippett (born March 31 1957) is an American former rower who represented the United States at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles and the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul. Competing in the women’s double sculls, she finished sixth in both Games.

Early life and education
Thaxton‑Tippett rowed for Stanford University, graduating in 1979. She later earned a master’s degree in education from Northern Arizona University.

Rowing career
In addition to her Olympic appearances, she participated in the World Rowing Championships in 1977, 1979 and 1983, and was an alternate for the 1976 Olympic team and a member of the 1980 team that did not compete due to the U.S. boycott.

Post‑competition career
After retiring from competitive rowing, Thaxton‑Tippett pursued a career in education, teaching in the Salmon School District in Idaho.
