Cathy Leung (full name: Cathleen Yu-Yan Leung; Chinese: 梁曉茵; born 9 July 1985) is a Hong Kongese professional darts player and former Cantopop singer and show hostess.
Early Life and Music Career
Leung was born on 9 July 1985 in British Hong Kong. After graduating from high school, she was discovered by Boombeat Music in 2004 for her singing talent. She recorded songs including "I Was Here" and "The Whole World Love-Lost" and participated in events alongside other artists such as Ella Koon. In 2006, she paused her singing career to focus on her education, though she continued to participate in public events and won the Cantopop Singer/Lyricist Award. She later hosted the show Boom Sanctuary, taking over from Kay Tse. In 2007, she recorded her debut song "Why, Why" and released her first album Under the Sun on 9 September 2007. She was subsequently dropped by her entertainment company.
Darts Career
Leung began playing darts at a youth centre in Hong Kong. She turned professional after representing Hong Kong and winning the Dartslive Soft Darts World Cup in 2016. She retired from singing to become a full-time professional darts player.
In 2017, she reached the final of the steel-tip Malaysian Open, losing to Mozhgan Rahmani. That same year, she represented Hong Kong at the 2017 WDF World Cup, reaching the fourth round of the singles competition. In 2018, she competed in the WDF Asia-Pacific Cup but was eliminated in the group stage.
In 2019, she reached the quarter-finals of the singles tournament at the 2019 WDF World Cup, losing 3–5 in legs to Tori Kewish. Also in 2019, she won the Dartslive Soft Darts World Cup for the second time as a member of the Hong Kong national team and was awarded the tournament's Most Valuable Player (MVP) award.
Leung won the Hong Kong Tour Ladies Annual Ranking title four consecutive years from 2016 to 2019. She has also won multiple soft-tip and steel-tip tournaments across Asia. She is a right-handed player and uses Target darts.
