Carmit Bachar (born March 22, 1979) is an American singer, dancer, and former member of the pop group the Pussycat Dolls. She gained prominence as the group's original dancer and vocalist during the period when the ensemble transitioned from a Los Angeles‑based burlesque troupe to a mainstream recording act.
Early life and background
Carmit Bachar was born in Los Angeles, California, to Israeli immigrant parents. She began formal dance training at a young age, studying ballet, jazz, and hip‑hop, and later attended the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts, where she continued her studies in dance and performance.
Career
The Pussycat Dolls
In 2003, Robin Antin re‑formed the Pussycat Dolls as a recording group and selected Bachar as one of the five original members, alongside Nicole Scherzinger, Ashley Roberts, Kimberly Wyatt, and Jessica Sutta. The group signed with Interscope Records and released their debut studio album, PCD, in 2005. The album produced multiple international hits, including “Don’t Cha,” “Buttons,” and “Stickwitu.” Bachar contributed vocals and performed as a dancer on the group’s tours and promotional appearances.
Bachar remained with the Pussycat Dolls until her departure in early 2008. She left the group to pursue other creative projects and to focus on personal matters.
Post‑Pussycat Dolls activities
Following her exit from the Pussycat Dolls, Bachar engaged in various musical and performance endeavors. She formed a short‑lived duo with former group member Snoop‑like named “LadyStation,” though details of releases and activities of this project are limited in publicly available sources. She also worked as a backup dancer and appeared in occasional television and advertising projects.
In 2010, Bachar participated in a reunion performance with the Pussycat Dolls at a charity event, marking her occasional collaborative appearances with former members.
Personal life
Carmit Bachar is married to former professional tennis player and coach Michael “Mick” Sperlin. The couple has children, and Bachar has occasionally shared aspects of her family life in media interviews.
Legacy and influence
As a founding member of the Pussycat Dolls, Bachar contributed to the group’s early visual and vocal identity, helping shape the act’s blend of pop, R&B, and dance performance that influenced subsequent girl groups in the mid‑2000s.
