Carlos Eduardo Pérez (born April 10, 1996) is a Venezuelan professional baseball catcher. He is known for his defensive skills and has played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for multiple teams.
Early Career and Minor Leagues Pérez signed with the Philadelphia Phillies as an international free agent in July 2013. He spent several years progressing through the Phillies' minor league system, primarily in their Dominican Summer League, Gulf Coast League, and South Atlantic League affiliates. In 2017, he was traded to the Los Angeles Angels as part of a package for relief pitcher David Hernandez. He continued to develop in the Angels' system, reaching Double-A by 2019. After the 2020 minor league season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Pérez signed with the Oakland Athletics as a minor league free agent in 2021.
Major League Career Pérez made his Major League Baseball debut with the Oakland Athletics on May 10, 2022. He primarily served as a backup catcher, showcasing his defensive capabilities and strong throwing arm. In 2023, he was claimed off waivers by the Chicago White Sox, where he continued to play in a backup role, contributing defensively and occasionally with his bat.
