Carla Salomé Rocha

Carla Salomé Rocha (born 25 April 1990) is a Portuguese long-distance runner who has represented Portugal in international athletics competitions, including the European Athletics Championships, World Championships, Olympic Games, and major marathons.

Early Life and Background

Carla Salomé Rocha was born on 25 April 1990 in Vizela, Portugal. She began her athletic career at Futebol Clube de Vizela, where she won the National Youth Championship in the 2000m steeplechase in 2006. The following season, she became National Youth Champion in the 800m and successfully defended her 2000m steeplechase title, setting a new national youth record of 6:48.85.

Career

Track Achievements

Rocha specializes in long-distance track events, particularly the 10,000 metres. She competed in the 10,000 metres at the 2016 European Athletics Championships in Amsterdam and at the 2017 World Championships in London, where she finished 28th with a time of 32:52.71.

Her personal best in the 10,000 metres is 32:05.82, set on 21 May 2016.

Marathon Career

Rocha transitioned to road running and achieved significant success in the marathon. She finished 8th in the 2019 London Marathon with a time of 2:24:47, which stands as her personal best in the event. She has also competed in the half marathon and 5 km road events.

Olympic Participation

Rocha represented Portugal at the Olympic level, competing on the international stage as an Olympian.
