Capetinga River

The Capetinga River (Portuguese: Rio Capetinga) is a river located in the state of Goiás, Brazil. It is a tributary of the Paranaíba River, which is a major component of the extensive Paraná River basin system in South America.

Geography and Hydrology The Capetinga River originates in the southeastern part of Goiás state. Its course generally flows through agricultural areas before its confluence with the Paranaíba River. The river plays a localized role in the hydrological network of the region, contributing water to the larger Paranaíba, which then flows into the Paraná River, one of the continent's longest rivers. The specific length and exact course details of the Capetinga River are often relevant to local municipalities, such as Itumbiara, through which or near which it may flow.

Ecological Significance As with many smaller rivers in agricultural regions of Brazil, the Capetinga River's ecosystem supports local flora and fauna adapted to riparian environments. Its water quality and flow patterns can be influenced by land use practices in its watershed, including agriculture and urban development.
