Cannondale

Cannondale is an American bicycle manufacturer headquartered in Wilton, Connecticut, with manufacturing and assembly operations historically based in the United States and, since the early 2010s, primarily in Taiwan. The company is a division of Pon Holdings, a Dutch conglomerate, following its acquisition from Dorel Industries in 2021.

Founded in 1971 by Joe Montgomery, Murdock MacGregor, and Ron Davis, the company initially produced precast concrete housing and backpacking gear before pivoting to bicycle components and frames in the early 1980s. Cannondale gained prominence for pioneering the mass production of aluminum frames in the 1980s, marketing them under the "CAAD" (Cannondale Advanced Aluminum Design) designation. The company later became an early adopter of carbon fiber technology for high-end road and mountain bikes.

Cannondale has a significant history in professional cycling sponsorship, supporting teams such as Saeco, Liquigas, and the Cannondale Pro Cycling Team (formerly Liquigas-Cannondale), as well as numerous mountain bike and cyclocross athletes. The brand is known for proprietary technologies including the Lefty single-sided suspension fork, the HeadShok headset-based suspension system, and the Ai (Asymmetric Integration) offset drivetrain standard.
