Calvin Booth (born May 7, 1976) is an American professional basketball executive and former player. He is currently the general manager of the [[Denver Nuggets]] of the [[National Basketball Association]] (NBA). As a player, Booth was a 6-foot-11 power forward/center known for his shot-blocking ability, playing 10 seasons in the NBA.
Early Life and College Career
Born in Reynoldsburg, Ohio, Booth attended Reynoldsburg High School. He played college basketball for the [[Penn State Nittany Lions]] from 1994 to 1998. During his senior season (1997–98), he averaged 10.4 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 4.0 blocks per game, earning first-team All-[[Big Ten Conference]] honors. He finished his collegiate career as Penn State's all-time leader in blocked shots.Playing Career
Booth was selected by the [[Washington Wizards]] as the 35th overall pick in the second round of the [[1999 NBA draft]]. Over his 10-year NBA career, he played for several teams, including the Wizards (1999–2001, 2004–2005), [[Dallas Mavericks]] (2001–2002), [[Seattle SuperSonics]] (2002–2004), [[Milwaukee Bucks]] (2004), [[Philadelphia 76ers]] (2005–2007), [[Minnesota Timberwolves]] (2007–2008), [[Sacramento Kings]] (2008), [[Houston Rockets]] (2008), and [[Portland Trail Blazers]] (2009). He was primarily known as a defensive specialist and shot-blocker, often coming off the bench to provide energy and rim protection. - Denver Nuggets (2017–Present): Booth joined the Denver Nuggets in 2017 as assistant general manager under Tim Connelly. He quickly gained a reputation for his astute evaluations of talent and strategic understanding of team building.
In July 2020, Booth was promoted to general manager of the Denver Nuggets, replacing Tim Connelly, who left for the Minnesota Timberwolves. As general manager, Booth has been instrumental in assembling the team's championship roster. Key moves under his tenure include:
