Description and Characteristics

Calotes zolaiking is characterized by its distinct morphological features that differentiate it from other Calotes species found in the region. These features include specific scale patterns, the presence or absence of certain crests or spines, and coloration. Like other Calotes species, it is an arboreal lizard, typically found in vegetation.

Habitat and Distribution

Calotes zolaiking is currently known only from its type locality in Mizoram, Northeast India. Its habitat consists primarily of tropical moist broadleaf forests. As an arboreal species, it inhabits trees and shrubs within these forested environments.

Ecology and Behavior

Information on the specific ecology and behavior of Calotes zolaiking is still being gathered following its recent description. However, like other Calotes species, it is presumed to be diurnal and insectivorous, preying on various arthropods found in its forest habitat.

Conservation Status

As a recently described species with a limited known distribution, the conservation status of Calotes zolaiking has not yet been formally assessed by organizations such as the IUCN Red List. However, habitat loss and degradation due to deforestation and human encroachment in Northeast India pose potential threats to its long-term survival.
