C45 road (Namibia)

C45 road is a secondary tar road in northern Namibia that connects the town of Oshakati with the northern segment of the B1 highway in the Ohangwena Region. The route has an overall length of approximately 41 kilometres (25 mi)【1†L1-L4】.

Route description

  • Southwest terminus: The road begins at the junction with C46 in Oshakati, a major urban centre in the Oshana Region.
  • Northeast terminus: It ends at a junction with the B1 highway near Omafo in the Ohangwena Region.
  • Alignment: The road runs generally in a north‑south direction, providing a direct link between Oshakati and the B1, which is the principal north‑south trunk route in Namibia.

Significance

C45 serves as an important regional connector, facilitating the movement of people and goods between Oshakati—a key commercial and administrative hub—and the B1, which links the northern regions of the country to the rest of the national road network. Its tar surface distinguishes it from many secondary routes in Namibia that remain unpaved, improving travel reliability and reducing vehicle wear.

Administration

The road is part of Namibia’s secondary highway system, designated with the “C” prefix. It is maintained by the Namibian Ministry of Works and Transport in accordance with national road standards.
