History
Bulawayo City F.C. was founded in 2014 by the Bulawayo City Council with the aim of promoting local talent and providing a platform for the city's youth. The club quickly rose through the Zimbabwean football ranks.
After its formation, the team gained promotion to the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League (ZPSL), the top tier of Zimbabwean football, for the 2016 season. Their initial stint in the Premier League saw them compete against established clubs and represent the city of Bulawayo alongside other local teams like Highlanders F.C. and Chicken Inn F.C.
However, the club has experienced periods of both success and challenge, often being characterized as a "yo-yo" club due to its history of promotions and relegations between the Premier Soccer League and the ZIFA Southern Region Division One. They were relegated from the ZPSL at the end of the 2018 season but managed to secure promotion back to the top flight for the 2020 season, which was subsequently affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. They again faced relegation in the 2022 season, returning to the Division One.
The club remains an important part of Bulawayo's sporting landscape, providing community engagement and a pathway for aspiring footballers within the region.
Stadium
Bulawayo City F.C. plays its home matches at Luveve Stadium, a multi-purpose stadium located in Bulawayo. The stadium has a capacity of approximately 8,000 to 10,000 spectators and is frequently used by several football clubs in the city, including other Premier League teams, due to its facilities.
