Buckleria girardi is a species of moth in the family Pterophoridae (plume moths), subfamily Pterophorinae, tribe Oxyptilini. It was first described by the French entomologist Christian Gibeaux in 1992.
Taxonomy
The species was originally described as Buckleria girardi n. sp. by Gibeaux in the paper "Etude des Pterophoridae (29e note). Première étude de la faune des Ptérophores des Monts Nimba, Guinée (Lepidoptera)", published in the Revue française d'Entomologie (N. S.), volume 14, issue 1, pages 14–15, figures 1–5.
Type Specimen
The holotype is a male, with genitalia slide C. Gibeaux 4160♂, deposited in the Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle (MNHN) in Paris. It was collected on 20 November 1990 at Mount Nimba, plateau de Zouguepo, Guinea, at an elevation of 750 m, by the collector C. Girard (after whom the species is named).
