Bryan Kneale (born 9 July 1930) is a Manx sculptor recognized for his abstract works in stone, bronze, and wood. His career spans teaching, public commissions, and exhibitions in the United Kingdom and internationally.
Early life and education
Kneale was born on the Isle of Man and began his artistic training at the Douglas School of Art. He later attended the Royal Academy Schools in London, where he studied under prominent sculptors of the mid‑20th century.
Career
After completing his studies, Kneale settled in St Ives, Cornwall, becoming associated with the St Ives artistic community. He taught sculpture at various institutions, including the University of Nottingham and the University of Exeter, influencing a generation of emerging artists.
