History
Formation and Early Success (1990–1992)
Both Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn were established solo artists and songwriters in Nashville before being paired by Arista Records executive Tim DuBois in 1990. DuBois believed their individual talents would complement each other, with Brooks' charismatic stage presence and songwriting prowess combining with Dunn's powerful, soulful vocals. Despite initial reluctance from both artists to be part of a duo, they recorded a demo that impressed Arista, leading to their signing.Their debut album, ''Brand New Man'', was released in 1991 and was an immediate success, certified multi-platinum. It produced four number-one singles: "Brand New Man," "My Next Broken Heart," "Neon Moon," and "Boot Scootin' Boogie." "Boot Scootin' Boogie" notably ignited a renewed interest in line dancing across the United States, becoming a cultural phenomenon.
