Brett Breeding (born June 13, 1961) is an American comic book artist and inker, recognized for his contributions to mainstream superhero publications, primarily for DC Comics and Marvel Comics, during the 1980s and 1990s.
Breeding entered the comic book industry in the late 1970s, initially working as an assistant to artist Bob Layton. His early professional work included inking assignments for Marvel Comics on titles such as The Amazing Spider-Man, The Mighty Thor, and The West Coast Avengers.
He is most notably associated with his work at DC Comics, particularly on the Superman titles. Breeding formed a long-standing creative partnership with writer and artist Dan Jurgens. This collaboration was instrumental in the production of the 1992–1993 storyline "The Death of Superman," one of the most commercially successful events in the history of the medium. Breeding provided the finished inks over Jurgens' pencils for much of this period, contributing to the visual aesthetic of Superman (Vol. 2) and Justice League America.
Throughout his career, Breeding’s work has appeared in numerous high-profile series, including Action Comics, Wonder Woman, and The Sensational She-Hulk. While predominantly recognized as an inker, he has also worked as a penciller and a cover artist. His style is characterized by clean line work and detailed anatomical rendering.
In his later career, Breeding moved into commercial illustration and digital art, including work for the Bradford Exchange and the restoration of classic comic book art for collected editions and licensing purposes.
