Brent Brennan (born March 2, 1970) is an American football coach and former player, currently serving as the head coach of the Sacramento State Hornets football program.
Overview
Brennan began his playing career as a quarterback at California State University, Hayward (now California State University, East Bay) from 1989 to 1992. After graduating, he transitioned into coaching, holding early positions as a graduate assistant at Cal Poly and as a position coach at various high schools in California. He returned to the collegiate ranks as an assistant coach at Cal Poly, where he served in multiple roles—including offensive coordinator—between 2000 and 2008. In 2009, Brennan joined the coaching staff at Sacramento State as the wide receivers coach and later became the offensive coordinator. Following the departure of former head coach Marshall Sperbeck, Brennan was promoted to head coach in 2015. Under his leadership, the Hornets have achieved multiple winning seasons, secured conference victories in the Big Sky Conference, and earned postseason appearances, including a berth in the 2022 NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) playoffs.
