Branko Bačić (born 23 March 1959) is a Croatian politician affiliated with the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ). He has held multiple elected and governmental positions, most notably serving as Minister of Construction, Spatial Planning and State Property in the governments of Prime Ministers Ivo Sanader and Jadranka Kosor.
Early life and education
Bačić was born in Split, then part of the Socialist Republic of Croatia within the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. He completed secondary education in Split and subsequently earned a law degree from the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb.
Political career

Parliamentary service: Bačić was first elected to the Croatian Parliament (Sabor) in the 2000 parliamentary elections as a representative of the HDZ. He has been re‑elected in subsequent election cycles, representing the electoral district that includes Split and the surrounding region.

Ministerial office: Following the HDZ’s victory in the 2003 parliamentary election, Bačić was appointed Minister of Construction, Spatial Planning and State Property. He held this portfolio from 23 December 2003 until the formation of a new government in 2008. During his tenure, he oversaw legislation related to housing policy, urban development, and the management of state‑owned real estate.
