Brandon Scott Aubrey (born March 14, 1995) is an American multi-sport athlete who plays as a placekicker for the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League (NFL). He has also played professional association football as a center back. Since entering the NFL in 2023, Aubrey has emerged as one of the league's top placekickers, with an 88.2% career field goal percentage, ranking as the fifth-most accurate field goal kicker in NFL history. He has been named an All-Pro in each of his first three seasons and holds the NFL record for the most career field goals made from 60 yards or longer, with six.
Early Life and Education
Aubrey was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and attended Plano High School in Plano, Texas. He played youth soccer with Dallas Texans SC, captaining the '95 team from 2008 to 2010. He played his high school freshman and sophomore seasons at Dallas Jesuit in Dallas, Texas, where he was named First Team All-District as a sophomore.
Aubrey played four years of college soccer at the University of Notre Dame between 2013 and 2016. In 2016, he was named NSCAA Third Team All-American, First Team All-ACC, and NSCAA Academic All-American. The 2013 Notre Dame team won the NCAA Division I Men's National Championship.
Soccer Career
Aubrey was selected in the first round (21st overall) of the 2017 MLS SuperDraft by Toronto FC. He was loaned to Toronto FC II in the USL for the 2017 season, making his professional debut on March 25, 2017. In January 2018, he signed with USL club Bethlehem Steel FC and was released at the end of the 2018 season.
Transition to American Football
After being released from Bethlehem Steel FC, Aubrey worked as a software engineer using his Notre Dame degree. While watching an NFL game in 2019, his wife remarked that he could do what the kickers were doing. From 2019 to 2022, he trained with former Mississippi State kicker and kicking coach Brian Egan three times a week.
USFL Career
Aubrey was drafted as a placekicker by the Birmingham Stallions in the 2022 USFL draft. He played in all 10 games, making 18 of 22 field goal attempts (81.8%) and 22 of 24 extra-point attempts, leading the league in both categories. He was named to the inaugural All-USFL Team. The Stallions won the USFL championship in both 2022 and 2023.
NFL Career
Dallas Cowboys (2023–present)
The Stallions terminated Aubrey's contract on July 3, 2023, allowing him to sign with the Dallas Cowboys three days later.
2023 Season: In his NFL debut, Aubrey connected on both field goal attempts in a 40–0 shutout of the New York Giants. He set an NFL record for most consecutive field goals made to start a career (36). In Week 14 against the Philadelphia Eagles, he became the first kicker in NFL history to make two field goals from 59+ yards in the same game (59 and 60 yards). He converted 36 of 38 field goal attempts and 49 of 52 extra point attempts, leading the NFL in scoring.
2024 Season: Aubrey kicked a 65-yard field goal against the Baltimore Ravens, setting the Cowboys franchise record for longest field goal. He converted all 30 extra point attempts and 40 of 47 field goals.
2025 Season: In Week 2 against the New York Giants, Aubrey scored 16 points, including a 64-yard field goal at the end of regulation and a 46-yard game-winner in overtime. He became the first player in NFL history to convert a game-tying field goal with no time remaining in the fourth quarter and a game-winning field goal with no time remaining in overtime. He also became the first NFL kicker with five made field goals of 60-plus yards in a career.
2026 Season: On April 20, 2026, Aubrey and the Cowboys agreed to a four-year, $28 million contract with $20 million guaranteed, making him the highest-paid kicker in NFL history.
