Brandi Disterheft

Brandi Disterheft (born c. 1980) is a Canadian jazz bassist and composer, recognized for her virtuosic playing, sophisticated compositions, and distinctive sound. Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, she has established herself as a significant voice in the international jazz scene, primarily based out of New York City.

Early Life and Education Disterheft grew up in a musical family, with her mother being a jazz singer. She began playing piano at a young age, later picking up the saxophone, and eventually found her primary instrument in the upright bass during her teenage years. She attended the prestigious Humber College in Toronto, where she further honed her skills and immersed herself in the jazz tradition.
