Boris Volosatîi

Boris Volosatîi (also spelled Volosatâi; born 16 June 1956) is a Moldovan historian, university professor, and politician. He has served as a member of the Chamber of Deputies of Romania representing the Romanian diaspora since 21 December 2020, elected on the list of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR). From September 2022, he has been the president of the Moldovan branch of AUR.

Early life and education
Volosatîi was born in Purcari, then part of the Moldavian Soviet Socialist Republic, Soviet Union (present‑day Moldova). He earned a doctorate in the sciences and pursued an academic career in history.

Academic career
From 5 January 1990 until 1 January 2021, Volosatîi was the director of the Gheorghe Asachi Romanian‑French High School (Liceul Teoretic Român‑Francez „Gheorghe Asachi”) in Chișinău, one of the longest‑serving heads of a Moldovan educational institution. He is recognized as a professor of history with a Doctor of Science degree.

Business interests
Volosatîi’s family operates a construction company, SRL Sinteza‑OS, of which his wife is the founder and administrator.

Political activity
A strong advocate of the unification of Moldova and Romania, Volosatîi entered Romanian politics through the AUR party. In the 2020 parliamentary elections, he secured a seat in the Chamber of Deputies for the diaspora constituency, becoming the sole Moldovan deputy in the 2020–2024 legislature. He also leads the Committee for the Salvation of the Heroes' Cemetery Memorial Complex, which works to preserve the Chișinău Heroes' Cemetery, a World War II burial site for Romanian soldiers. Additionally, he has headed the Congress of Teachers, a Romanian‑patriotic association of Moldovan educators and students.
