Boothferry was a county constituency in Humberside, England, which returned one Member of Parliament (MP) to the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. It was created for the 1950 general election, and abolished for the 1997 general election.
The constituency was named after the Boothferry Bridge, a landmark crossing of the River Ouse. Geographically, it comprised a rural area west of Kingston upon Hull, encompassing market towns and villages. Key areas included Goole and Howden.
Historically, Boothferry was considered a marginal seat, often changing hands between the Conservative and Labour parties. The political demographics were influenced by a mix of agricultural workers, industrial employees in Goole, and commuters.
Notable MPs who represented Boothferry include:
- Sir Henry Price (Conservative, 1950-1955)
- George Mitchison (Labour, 1964-1966)
- Sir Paul Bryan (Conservative, 1966-1987)
- David Davis (Conservative, 1987-1997)
Following its abolition in 1997, the area previously covered by the Boothferry constituency was largely absorbed into the new constituency of Haltemprice and Howden, which is currently (as of 2023) represented by David Davis.
