Bon Kuh-e Olya
Bon Kuh-e Olya (Persian: بن كوه عليا, also Romanized as Bon Kūh-e ‘Olyā) is a village in the Dena Rural District, in the Central District of Boyer-Ahmad County, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province, Iran.
Etymology
The name "Bon Kuh-e Olya" is derived from Persian terms. "Bon" (بن) can be translated as "base" or "bottom," "Kuh" (كوه) means "mountain," and "Olya" (عليا) signifies "upper" or "higher." Therefore, the name approximately translates to "Upper Mountain Base" or "Upper Base of the Mountain," indicating its geographical location in relation to a mountainous region and potentially distinguishing it from a "lower" settlement (such as a hypothetical "Bon Kuh-e Sofla").
Geography
The village is situated within the mountainous terrain that characterizes Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province, which is part of the Zagros Mountains range in southwestern Iran. Its designation as an "upper mountain base" implies its location at a relatively higher elevation or on an upper slope compared to other nearby settlements.
Demographics
According to the 2006 Iranian census, Bon Kuh-e Olya had a population of 152 people, distributed among 33 families. Demographic figures for villages in Iran are collected during national censuses and can vary over time due to factors such as internal migration and birth rates.
Administration
Administratively, Bon Kuh-e Olya falls under the jurisdiction of the Dena Rural District (دهستان دنا), which is a component of the Central District (بخش مرکزی) of Boyer-Ahmad County (شهرستان بویراحمد). Boyer-Ahmad County itself is one of the counties within the Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province (استان کهگیلویه و بویراحمد).
