Bolshoye Burtanovo

Overview

Bolshoye Burtanovo is situated in the central part of European Russia, within the [[Ivanovo Oblast]], a federal subject that is part of the [[Central Federal District (Russia)|Central Federal District]]. The name "Bolshoye" (Большое) is Russian for "Big" or "Large," distinguishing it from other potentially similarly named settlements, such such as the nearby [[Maloye Burtanovo]] ("Small Burtanovo").

The village is located within the [[Komsomolsky District (Ivanovo Oblast)|Komsomolsky District]] of Ivanovo Oblast. Administratively, it is part of the Markovskoye Rural Settlement (Марковское сельское поселение). The region is characterized by a temperate continental climate.

Demographics

According to the [[2010 Russian Census]], Bolshoye Burtanovo had a population of 20 inhabitants. Like many small rural localities in Russia, its population has generally seen a decline over recent decades due to urbanization and migration.
